Let’s All Try to D!e a Rockstar

There is a lot that sucks on a grand scale in the world right now; down economy, hunger, foreclosure, just to name a few. Not to mention the millions of unemployed Americans – I know from my own experience that a certain feeling of hopelessness consumes you and pulls you down from every direction… all before prospective employers don’t bother to call you back. Makes you want to listen to some aggressive tunes.

And music has long been an outlet for such mass emotional strife. And Vision the Kid’s got it by the balls.

All Rise for The Brass Kings

I got an invite from Steve Kaul and found out The Brass Kings are playing at the Blue Ox in Bemidji tonight!

A trio of world class musicians out of Minneapolis, The Brass Kings are an acoustic roots band with Mikkel Beckman on washboard, refrigerator parts, hand drums and pieces of wood – it’s really fun to watch him make the rhythms. Brad Ptacekt plays a furious washtub bass and Steve Kaul, originally from Bemidji, plays acoustic and Resonator guitars & sings.
