Let’s All Try to D!e a Rockstar

by Doug MacRostie

There is a lot that sucks on a grand scale in the world right now; down economy, hunger, foreclosure, just to name a few. Not to mention the millions of unemployed Americans – I know from my own experience that a certain feeling of hopelessness consumes you and pulls you down from every direction… all before prospective employers don’t bother to call you back. Makes you want to listen to some aggressive tunes.

And music has long been an outlet for such mass emotional strife. And Vision the Kid’s got it by the balls.

Rapids Ford to Rock Toys for Tots

by Doug MacRostie

I was working on a deal when the Rep. from the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots stopped by Rapids Ford to ask us to be a drop off location for toys this year. As I was walking up I overheard the Rep. saying that it would be great if we signed on, because, “for whatever reason Ford Dealerships bring in the most toys.” Gary, the General Manager, smoothly replied, “Well, that’s probably because Ford is the bestselling brand in America.” Makes sense to me: If we’ve got more people walking in, that should lead to more toys dropped off.

And I intend for Rapids Ford to rock Toys for Tots. I encourage you to take the time to drop off an inexpensive toy (still in the original packaging) and bring a little joy to those less fortunate. I overheard the Rep. say these toys stay local for our community members in need. We’ll be collecting toys through Dec. 20th at Noon.

I’ve Got the Rhythm in My Soul

by Doug MacRostie

Escher's first post-utero music festival, 6 months old

Music is my first language – as long as I can remember it’s always spoken directly to my soul in a very emotional way. As you can see in this picture, that passionate appreciation is shared by my family. I am pleased to say we’ve decided to put the time in to keep sharing the cream of the crop :)

I say ‘we’ because this actually was a family conversation. These days it seems like we’re working all the time with occasional glances of family-life.
